Manchester Airport cops punch & kick man pinned to floor – weeks after officers cleared over previous arrest vid

MANCHESTER Airport officers were filmed punching and kicking a man as he was pinned to the floor.

The video – taken at around 1pm on Sunday – emerged just days after two police officers were freed in connection with another brawl at the airport.

Two police officers were allegedly knocked to the ground in a scuffle on July 23 in which passenger Mohammed Fahir Amaaz, 19, was kicked in the head while he and his brother Muhammad Amaad, 25, were tied up.

Two brothers have now been charged over this summer’s airport chaos, but two police officers who were questioned over the same incident will not face charges.

Footage from yesterday shows the officer appearing to punch the man four times and kick him twice in the stomach area.

It is believed that officers were called to reports of a “drunk and disorderly” man at a bus stop outside the airport after he was refused entry to public transport.

One officer arrived at the scene and reportedly attempted to arrest the man before colleagues came to help.

A scuffle ensued before the video shows one officer holding the man by the head, another pinning him by the legs and a third kneeling on top of him.

The man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disturbing public order.

A GMP spokesman said: “We are currently reviewing a video posted online showing the arrest of a man at Manchester Airport Bus Terminal yesterday afternoon.

“We understand the concerns about the use of force shown in the footage and our professional standards unit is assessing all available footage including body-worn cameras and CCTV.”

The video was taken by a tourist who was staying in Great Britain.

It comes five months after shocking footage emerged from the same airport showing a fight in which two officers were knocked to the ground.

Passenger Amaaz, 19, was kicked in the head while he and his brother Amaad, 25, were tied up, it said.

Two brothers have since been charged with the incident.

Amaaz, now 20, has been charged with two counts of assault causing actual bodily harm, one count of assaulting an ambulance worker and one count of common assault.

Amaad, 25, has been charged with causing actual bodily harm and will appear at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court alongside his brother on January 16.
