Manish Pandey was born on Sunday, 10 September 1989 (30 years old; as of 2019) in Nainital, Uttarakhand. His zodiac sign is Virgo. He was educated at Kendriya Vidyalaya ASC Center in Bangalore. He completed his college studies from Jain University, Bangalore, Karnataka. He has been playing cricket since the third grade. When Manish was 15, he moved to Bangalore with his family after his father was transferred. However, a few years later, when his father was transferred to Rajasthan, Manish decided to stay and pursue a career in cricket.

Manish Pandey’s cricketing career started when he joined the Karnataka Cricket Association (KCA). He has played for Mysore and Karnataka teams. He was recognized for his outstanding skills and was soon selected for the India U-19 team. He was also part of the India U-19 team that won the 2008 U-19 World Cup in Malaysia, captained by Virat Kohli.
In 2008, after returning from the U-19 World Cup, Manish was selected by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for the 2008 IPL. In the same year, he became the first Indian to score a century in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He played for RCB for 6 years before being picked by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2014. In the same year, KKR won the IPL and Manish Pandey was awarded the Man of the Match award for his match-winning innings of 94 against Kings XI Punjab. He was among the top 10 scorers in IPL in 2014 (401 points) and 2017 (396 points). In 2018, he was selected by “Sunrisers Hyderabad” for INR 110 million.
Pandey made his debut in India’s One-Day International (ODI) match against Zimbabwe on 14 July 2015. He scored 71 runs and also scored a match-winning score of 144 for the fifth wicket in partnership with Kedar Jadhav. He made his T20 international debut on July 17, 2015 during the tour of Zimbabwe. In January 2016, he was selected for the India-Australia tour. In the final match in Sydney, he scored a match-winning innings of 104 not out to help India win the only game of the series. In 2016, he was selected as a replacement for Yuvraj Singh for the 2016 T20 World Cup hosted by India. He was also selected for the Champions Trophy 2017 but had to opt out after getting injured during the IPL.
He was acquired by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs. 50 Lakhs were auctioned at the IPL 2024 Auction held on December 19, 2023 at Coke Cola Arena, Dubai.
