- Manisha aspired to participate in the reality show Dance India Dance when she was in 12th grade; however, her father was against the idea. In an interview, Manisha spoke about her dream of becoming an actress and dancer and revealed that she tried to convince her father to let her move to Kolkata with her friends in the hope of pursuing her passion there, but her father did not approve Do any of this. Determined to follow her dream, Manisha left a letter to her father at home expressing regret for her decision and left for Calcutta. She recalled that after she left, her father did not speak to her for a full year. Manisha Rani said in an interview,
When I ran away from home, I went to Calcutta. I wanted to learn to dance, but my father didn’t allow it, so I wrote a letter to my father and eloped with a friend. I wrote to my father, “Maaf kijiyega humko (Please forgive me). I got on the train without buying a ticket. I was fearless and unafraid of being caught and just sat in the detention center for two hours. In fact, we even Wouldn’t buy a 5 rupee platform ticket in Kolkata. I live in a house in such a bad condition that I don’t think my family can live in today. The house is in bad condition, there are mosquitoes and I can’t poop because of the mosquitoes. “
- In an interview, Manisha shared her challenging experience in Kolkata. She narrated her experience of working as a background dancer and waitress at various weddings for a daily salary of Rs. 500 as a waiter. Manisha recalls an incident when she was struggling to pay rent. To overcome financial difficulties, she decided to work as a background dancer at events in Kolkata and surrounding villages in Bihar; Manisha got invitations to these events from a boy named Monty. Upon arriving at the location, Manisha noticed other dancers wearing revealing outfits and performing provocative moves. However, she chose to stay classy and refused to wear anything bold. Manisha danced at these events for about 10 days, but she eventually decided to return to Kolkata. When she asked the manager for money, he insisted that she wait for two more days before receiving the money. Manisha refused and asked him to keep the money and let her go. However, the manager locked her in a room against her will and insisted that she stay for two more days. Manisha manages to find a way out of the situation. Without a phone or money, she went to the railway station to contact her boyfriend, who lived in Kolkata. She requested him to send her rupees. 500 so that she could return to Kolkata. After reaching Kolkata railway station and her boyfriend came to pick her up, Manisha fainted.
- According to Manisha, after living in Kolkata for some time, she decided to return to Munger, Bihar and started making videos and uploading them on TikTok, which got her some activity in Patna, Bihar. She said in an interview that after her video went viral, the director of the TV series “Gudiya Hamari Sabhi Pe Bhari” offered her a role and asked her to travel to Mumbai for a look test. Manisha Rani got the role and she worked in the serial for about two years.
