Manuel made his professional debut at the age of 21 in the second season of the interactive reality program Operación Triunfo. He was the runner-up, while Ainhoa Cantalapiedra won. After that, he represented Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest 2002, but Beth won the competition. In late 2003, Manuel released his debut album, Quiéreme, produced by Miguel A. His first record sold over 200,000 copies. He performed in 39 cities across Spain.
Manuel Carrasco, his second album, was released in October 2004. He co-produced the song together with Jordi Armengola and Jordi Cristau. For his second record, he sold more than 100,000 copies and performed in 80 cities. Tercera Parada, his third album, was released on September 5, 2005 and contained 13 self-penned songs plus one bonus track. Y Ahora was the first single from the album. “El Beso de la Vida”, one of his songs, was used as the theme song for the telenovela Ser Bonita No Basta.
