Maren Morris is Richard Gere’s team!
The country star, 34, revealed his choice for PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive in an Instagram comment this month — ultimately picking a man who already earned the title twice in the ’90s.
Underneath @velvetcoke’s Nov. 12 Instagram post, which asked followers who their choice for Sexiest Man Alive (SMA) would be, while looking back at past titleholders, Morris shared her thoughts.

Morris revealed her personal SMA pick on the same day that PEOPLE announced that John Krasinski was the latest name to join the prestigious club. Krasinski, 45, jokingly said at the time that learning about the 2024 Sexiest Man Alive award left him speechless.
“Except maybe they’re kidding me,” he said. “I don’t wake up like that, thinking, ‘Is this the day I’m going to be asked to be the sexiest man alive?’ And yet that was the day you did it. You really raised the bar for me.”
As for Gere, the 75-year-old actor was previously named the Sexiest Man Alive in 1999, six years after he was named part of the “Sexiest Couple Alive” alongside ex Cindy Crawford. Gere is one of only four people to have won the title and graced the cover twice (including a cover with Crawford), alongside Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp and George Clooney.

It’s been a big week for Gere, who was joined by wife Alejandra Silva and 24-year-old son Homer — whom he shares with ex Carey Lowell — at the premiere of his new TV series, Agencyin New York on Thursday, November 21.
During the premiere at the Museum of Modern Art, Gere spoke with ET about how proud he is of his actor son and how he would like him to join him in the second season of the series.
Agency also stars Michael Fassbender, Jodie Turner-Smith and Jeffrey Wright and serves as “a fresh take on the critically acclaimed French drama Le Bureau des Legends,” according to the synopsis. It follows “The Martian (Fassbender), an undercover CIA agent, who is ordered to abandon his secret life and return to a London station,” as “romance is rekindled” and “his career, his real identity and his mission clash against his heart; drawing them both into a deadly game of international intrigue and espionage.”

Richard Gere has been wearing the same beaded bracelet for years: Here’s what it means
“I have a young actor who I’ve heard is really amazing. He’s standing next to you right now,” Gere told an interviewer at the premiere, before Homer added that he and his father have “a lot more to talk about now that I’m acting.”
Gere is also the father of Alexander (5) and James (4), who he shares with his wife Silva, and is the stepfather of Silva’s 11-year-old son Albert.
“He is fine. He made many student films at Brown and NYU students, also Southern Cal. He’s really good,” the proud dad said of Homer. “I’d be just as happy if he wasn’t, and I’d be like, ‘No. It’s really not for you.’ But he’s really good.”
