Mariah Carey Is ‘Thriving’ and Focused on a ‘Fun Holiday Break’ with Her Kids After Bryan Tanaka Split: Source

Mariah Carey has finished her Christmas tour and is ready for some holiday cheer!

The “All I Want for Christmas Is You” singer, 54, is embracing the holiday spirit as she celebrates the season with her 12-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe, a source tells PEOPLE.

“Mariah is successful this Christmas. She’s feeling good and in full holiday mode Mariah,” says the source. “She is thrilled with the success of the tour with her children and the work she has already done on her next album.”

Carey, who recently split from boyfriend Bryan Tanaka after dating for seven years, wrapped up Merry Christmas to everyone! tour last weekend in New York after 16 performances.

The string of performances marked her first time on a national tour – and included special onstage appearances by her two children, who she shares with ex-husband Nick Cannon.

“Now she’s just thinking about a fun vacation with Roc and Roe,” says the insider. “Everyone around her is talking about how she’s working on all cylinders these days and how amazing she looks.”

This has already been a special season for the star; earlier this week, “All I Want for Christmas Is You” returned to No. 1 on the Board Hot 100, marking a record sixth consecutive top spot for the song and surpassing Morgan Wallen (“Last Night”) and Harry Styles (“As It Was”), according to Board.

She also stopped by the White House last week with Roc and Roe, where the trio met with President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

“Last week I had the pleasure of meeting President Biden and Vice President Harris at the White House in celebration of the holiday season!” – wrote the singer on Instagram. “While we were there, we saw all the festive decor and cheered up! 🎄❄️☃️”

Carey, whose last studio album Cautionout in 2018, recently opened up about her aspirations for this year’s Christmas in a PEOPLE digital cover story.

“I’ve been looking forward to this Christmas for almost a whole year. Since last year—because last year wasn’t the best,” she said. “I’m grateful to them all, but it wasn’t my most fun version of Christmas ever.”

The five-time Grammy winner also revealed some home holiday secrets, like the fact that she has two different styles of Christmas trees.

“One is more magnificent, gold and cream and glittery angel and butterfly tree that I have every year,” she explained. “It makes me really happy. The other is like Charlie Brown’s tree. peanut forever!”

Elsewhere in her cover story, Carey opened up about performing with her children, saying that while it was “very nice” to see them on stage, she wanted to let them make their own way in life.

“I even like to watch them get ready, prepare for the performance. Tonight, before I left the house, my son was practicing something he’s doing for the show,” she said.
