Marie Osmond Reveals Working on The Bold and the Beautiful Was a ‘Bucket List’ Life Achievement (Exclusive)

For Marie Osmond, it took more than a decade to become a true soap star.

The singer and actress, 64, was originally scheduled to appear on Brave and beautiful 2011, but at the time she was performing a residency in Las Vegas with her brother Donny Osmond, which made scheduling a challenge. After the residency ended in 2019, Osmond tells PEOPLE that she created a bucket list filled with “everything you really can’t do when you’re under contract,” including high-octane activities (ziplining, skydiving, and climbing Mount Sinai) and a lifelong entertainment dream: he will finally make his debut in a soap opera.

Acting in a soap opera might not be considered a dangerous job, but now Osmond can cross that off his list. The entertainer is set to make her debut at Brave and beautiful on the Oct. 27 episode of the five-part CBS series, which premieres Oct. 25.

Osmond plays the wealthy Countess Von Frankfurt, a longtime client of the fashion house Forrester Creations who travels to Los Angeles to view the latest collections of Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) and his father Eric Forrester (John McCook) in what CBS is touting as a “highly anticipated fashion showdown.” ”

“It has a bit of a ‘tude,’ hints Osmond, adding: “Let’s just say it’s unique. Not one [character] which I have already played and enjoyed it. I like that. You can direct a few people here and there, and she was fun.”

Osmond’s impressive decades-long career spans music, TV, film and theater. But the award-winning artist admitted she was “blown away”. Brave and beautiful actor’s work ethic.

“These people will get 25 pages that they have to memorize in one day and do it right when they get it, and their hours are crazy,” she adds. “I left at five in the morning and left at 11 o’clock. Just because it was, I’m sure of this [was] special. But man, they work hard, and I had two days to remember, understand and learn everything.”

The actress also quickly adapted to the brisk pace of filming.

“When you’re making a movie, you could spend a whole day doing two or four pages – that’s ambitious – and you’re shooting it over and over again, from this angle and from that angle,” Osmond continues. “When it comes to soap operas, you really have one chance. You’re lucky if you get two. … So you have to show up ready right then and there with your attitude, your look, your underworld. It’s fast. It is so quickly.”

After Brave and beautiful, Osmond plans to work through the holidays, preparing for and performing a nine-show Christmas tour with the orchestra with nephew David Osmond. After that, the entertainer will briefly hit the pause button to spend time with her family, which includes eight children – Stephen, 40, Jessica, 36, Rachael, 34, Brandon, 27, Brianna, 25, Matthew ( 24) and Abigail (21) — as well as nine grandchildren. (She also had a late son named Michael, who died in February 2010.)

“I’ll be working until Christmas, and then all my kids and I get together,” she explains. “A few of them won’t be able to be there just because of work and location, but once Christmas is over, my husband and I will go and see all those kids. … It’s so much fun I can’t tell you.”
