Martha Stewart Says She Doesn’t Wear Underwear — Just ‘Bathing Suits’ Under Her Clothes

Martha Stewart is ready for anything – including swimming (and the accompanying thirst trap) at a moment’s notice.

That’s because, as the lifestyle mogul revealed to Page Six over the weekend, she prefers not to wear underwear, opting for a bathing suit underneath.

“I love swimwear. I like to wear bathing suits under my clothes just in case I want to go swimming,” she told the outlet at the Old Bags Luncheon in Palm Beach, Florida.

“Swimsuits are my underwear,” she continued. “I don’t wear any of that structured stuff. No tight lace, no SKIMS for Martha. But I love SKIMS — I think they serve a very good purpose! But I don’t wear them. I only wear Aerie swimwear under my clothes.”

The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover model, 82, said she hopes SKIMS creator Kim Kardashian won’t be “mad” at her for publicly revealing she’s skipping shapewear.

“No, he won’t be mad at me,” she concluded. “She knows I don’t wear SKIMS.”

Stewart is fully committed to her love of swimwear, which is why it made sense for her to star on the cover SI To swim last year. But she didn’t go to her photo shoot unprepared – she, of course, wanted to look her best.

To prepare for her glamorous shoot in the Dominican Republic, Stewart exclusively told PEOPLE last year that she upped her usual skin care and wellness routine to ensure she feels her best in front of the camera.

“I did Pilates three, maybe four times a week and I didn’t drink – two months without any alcohol,” she said, adding that she continued with regular facials and was very careful about what she put in and on her body.

“I also got a tan a couple of days before the shoot, which I don’t normally do,” Stewart revealed. “It’s nice when you’re down in that azure water. I got a light tan, and it was very nice, very natural. I’m very pleased with the pictures, I really am.”

Stewart, who enjoys saucy selfies, also told PEOPLE in November that she wouldn’t rule out posing in her swimsuit for the iconic magazine again.

“I’m working on my bikini body now,” Stewart told PEOPLE on the 2023 red carpet. News about footwear Awards for achievements at the end of last year. She also revealed that her “new goal” is to work with the cameras in two parts the next time she’s asked to grace another cover.

Looking back at her SI Swimsuit debut, the author and media mogul said that “every day” on set in the Dominican Republic “was fun.”
