Klik, a weekly show that follows events in the world of technology, began broadcasting in 2000.

Taking to X, Lara announced the shocking news in an emotional statement.

She wrote: “Here’s to the future…some PERSONAL NEWS:

“After 15 years of covering some of the biggest technology in the world, sadly in a few months BBC Click will no longer be looking to the future.

“I have lots of exciting plans, documentaries to finish, AI agony aunt on @lorraine and a compelling future health tech project coming next year.

“The BBC has given us an incredible opportunity to cover technology that has changed and will change our lives in ways we could never have imagined.

“It’s a shame to see our beloved show end at this moment of AI transformation and incredible acceleration of innovation and opportunity, but such are the economic constraints.”

A BBC spokesperson confirmed: “Our flagship tech show, ‘Click’, will be relaunched and rebranded as ‘Tech Now’, moving from a traditional TV format to one where films work best for digital.”

“I’ll break down the facts and answer viewers’ questions about artificial intelligence and technology.

“Lots of important things to discuss about what it means to be human in the age of artificial intelligence.”

Lara married husband and Money Saving Expert/Good Morning Britain star Martin Lewis in 2009.

It comes as another long-running BBC show is about to end.

The HARDtalk interview series was launched in 1997 on BBC World News.

After almost three decades on air, the show – which has featured guests ranging from political leaders to entertainers – will end in March 2025.

Presenter Stephen Sackur wrote on X: “Today BBC News announced plans to close down HARDtalk after 3 decades of holding the world’s politicians and powers-that-be to account.

“This is sad news for me personally, but more importantly, I think it’s depressing news for the BBC…”
