Masum has loved singing since he was a child. He has performed Haryanvi Ragnis in cultural shows in his hometown. In 2009, he released his debut music album “Jalwa Haryana”, which consisted of eight audio songs, but the album failed to impress the audience. After his debut album Masoom received an average response from the audience, Mukesh Grover and his friends started a company, GV Videos, to release cassettes and DVDs of Haryanvi songs from Masoom. In 2014, Masoom lent his voice to the song Kothe Chad Lalkaru, with Anjali Raghav. Received phone death threats
On March 16, 2021, Masoom Sharma received death threats through WhatsApp calls and text messages. Initially, the caller threatened and abused Masum through WhatsApp calls, and later he dropped a WhatsApp text message threatening him to kill his family. He said,

In December 2021, a woman lodged a complaint against Masoom Sharma and three others Gaurav, Vikas and Deepak at the Julana police station, accusing them of sexually abusing her and threatening her with death threats. The woman alleged in her complaint that she was raped by Masoom’s brothers Vikas and Deepak and one of their common friends Gaurav. The woman alleged that Gaurav demanded Rs. - In 2021, Manish Sharma, a resident of Nangal village in Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh, created a fake account on Facebook in the name of Masoom Sharma and texted random girls on the pretext of providing them with modeling opportunities in music videos. Manish allegedly impersonated himself as Masoom Sharma and often had inappropriate conversations with several girls, which ultimately lowered Masoom’s image among girls. When Masoom noticed the fake Facebook account, he immediately reported the matter to Julana police station, after which Manish was arrested by the police.
- In January 2021, against the backdrop of farmers’ protests against farm practices in India, Masoom Sharma was invited to meet Manohar Lal, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the tenth chief minister of Haryana, in Chandigarh. The song, released within three weeks of his death, was removed from YouTube on June 28, 2022, after the central government lodged a complaint against the song. The song allegedly focuses on various contentious matters such as the dispute over water sharing between Punjab and Haryana through the Satluj Yamuna Link canal, Punjab’s ownership of the canal waters, non-partition of Punjab, the 1984 uprising Sikh riots and hoisting of the Sikh flag on the Red Fort during the farmers’ agitation. On the contrary, Masoom Sharma released a song SYL Haryanvi on June 25, 2022, which was a response to Moosewala’s SYL song.
