According to TMZ, his initial drug reports from the autopsy came back clear for both methamphetamine and fentanyl.

However, these tests are the first of deeper processes to come.

It could take several months for a more detailed toxicology report for the Friends star to be returned, at which point the coroner will be able to confirm the cause of death.

The reports will check for dangerous levels of prescription drugs in Matthew’s system, as well as other illegal drugs.

Matthew was taking antidepressants, anti-anxiety medication and COPD medication at his Los Angeles mansion, police told TMZ.

The first emergency services previously said that they did not find any illegal drugs at the scene and that they do not suspect foul play.

COPD, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, refers to a group of breathing and airflow diseases that include emphysema or chronic bronchitis.

FINAL MOMENTS

According to a new report, Matthew hadn’t been in the hot tub long before his body was discovered.

Hours earlier, the 54-year-old was playing pickleball with a racket with a friend, who revealed the star had been feeling unwell and “tired” for the past week.

He returned home from the country club and sent his assistant on an errand.

His assistant found him unresponsive in the water when they returned and frantically called 911.

The television actor was pronounced dead at the scene after being lifted from the hot tub by firefighters.

However, his body was not “soaked in water”, suggesting that his assistant came across it shortly after his death.

SAYING GOODBYE

On Monday, the cast of Friends — Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc and Lisa Kudrow — shared a joint statement about losing a member of their “family.”

“We are all so completely devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than co-stars. We are family,” they said in a statement, first obtained by People.

“There is so much to say, but right now we will take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.

We will say more over time, as and when we can, the press release states. “For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends and everyone who loved him around the world.”

The note was signed by each of his colleagues.
