Matthew Perry’s L.A. Home Where He Died Sells for $8.5 Million One Year After His Death

The Los Angeles home where Matthew Perry died has sold for $8.55 million, People can confirm.

It was sold off the market almost a year after Friends star died on October 28, 2023. The property, located in LA’s Pacific Palisades neighborhood, has four bedrooms, four full bathrooms and spans 3,500 square feet, according to The New York Times.

The house was bought by Perry for $6 million in 2020, according to the outlet.

Greg Holcombe of Carolwood Estates handled the listing for Perry’s property, while Brooke Elliott Laurinkus of Christie’s International Real Estate Southern California represented the buyer.

Perry died at the age of 54 from the acute effects of the prescription drug ketamine, according to an autopsy report obtained by PEOPLE in December 2023. He was found unresponsive in a hot tub at his LA home.

At the time of his death, a source told PEOPLE exclusively that the beloved actor had just renovated the house and was “incredibly happy” there. Perry called his home “paradise,” the source added.

Another home belonging to the actor, located in the Hollywood Hills, was listed for sale in May 2024 for $5.2 million. Property records show it was purchased in June 2023, just four months before Perry’s death.

In a statement they shared exclusively with PEOPLE after the tragic incident, Perry’s family said, “We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother. Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and as a friend. He misses you all so much meant and we appreciate the huge outpouring of love.”

An autopsy revealed that contributing factors to the actor’s death included drowning, coronary artery disease and the effects of buprenorphine (a drug used to treat opioid use disorder).

In May 2024, authorities launched a formal investigation to determine where the actor obtained the powerful drugs, as the level found in Perry’s blood was equivalent to the amount that would be used during general anesthesia, according to an autopsy report.

In August, five people were charged and arrested in connection with Perry’s death, including two doctors, a woman known as the “Ketamine Queen” and Perry’s personal assistant.
