Matthew Perry’s Most Memorable Friends Moments as Chandler Bing

Could he be something more memorable?

As Chandler Bing, Matthew Perry brought dry humor friends, often at the expense of his character. Beleaguered Bing went through jobs and relationships, but found a happy ending when the series ended with his wife Monica Geller (Courteney Cox) and their twins.

In his memoirs from 2022. Friends, lovers, and the great terrible thing, Perry has written about how his own unique way of speaking influenced his role as Chandler.

“I read the words in an unexpected way, putting accents that no one else guessed,” he wrote Deadline. “I was in Ottawa with my childhood friends the Murrays; I laughed like no one else.”

“It was like someone had been following me for a year, stealing my jokes, copying my mannerisms, photocopying my world-weary but witty outlook on life,” he continued, reading Friends the script. “I didn’t think I could play ‘Chandler’; I was Chandler.”

Every post-Super Bowl show usually has to be a winner, and this one didn’t disappoint, bringing in guest star Julia Roberts — who was actually Perry’s off-screen girlfriend at the time, 2022 revealed.

In the episode, he played Susie Moss, his old classmate, who taunted him by leaving him almost naked in the bathroom, getting revenge for the embarrassing moment he caused her in elementary school.

Season 6, Episode 24: “The One with the Proposal”

Watching the friends realize one by one that Monica and Chandler are an item over the course of two episodes was a treat for fans, allowing each character to “have a little fun,” as Phoebe said before the fake date.

Season 4, Episode 15: “The One With All the Rugby”

Have you ever been to “15 Yemen Road, Yemen”? Chandler actually went there to avoid his annoying ex Janice in this hilarious moment, where he ended up dropping over $2k on a plane ticket just to run away from her at the airport.

“Then I guess I’m going to Yemen!”
