Matthew Rhys Shares How Fatherhood Has Changed Him: ‘I Cry a Lot Easier These Days’ (Exclusive)

Matthew Rhys has paternity to thank him for helping him prepare for his new movie, Hallow road.

AND Siblings star, 50, shared on a red carpet for Hallow road On SXSW that raising his 8-year-old son alone with his partner Keri Russell, 48, helped him enter the character in a movie, in which he plays a worried father who races against time to help his daughter.

“I think once you become a parent and allow yourself that thoughts … The thought of the child goes through what happens in the movie is scary, so all you have to do is let yourself be the right thought of it,” Rhys says for people.

“I have been crying much easier these days since I became a father for the reason I don’t know why,” he adds.

Hallow road is a thriller followed by two parents, “gaining trouble in their daughter’s late -night call after provoking a tragic car accident,” the movie Sinopsy said. Rosamund Pike plays and in the movie Babak Anvari.

Rhys, who also shares two stepmother with Russell-River, 17 and Will Lou, said 12-longtime that there was an additional similarity between themselves and his character in that they both had children who could drive.

“[River] has passed its own [driving] A test in New York, God blessed him, “he joked.” I think if he can drive there, he can drive anywhere. ”

The actor has previously opened up to balance his son’s parenting, in an interview with People in June 2024. He shared at a time when they were sure that he was always a “parent in the house” to take care of him.

“What we are trying to do is – how much our friends do this – one acts when the other does not,” Rhys said of his family dynamics. He admitted, however, that “there are moments where ships go to a diploma night, which makes it a little ticklish.”

“But we try not to disturb the house life too much. So we did it in general. And mostly, so far, it seems that it works,” he explained, he joked that he would “knock on wood now.”

Despite the fact that “the logistical element of children care becomes ticklish” if Rhys and Russell work together, he said they are still very interested in another professional pairing. The couple especially started their romance while acting together Americans.

“We would definitely work together [again]We said that before, “Rhys said.” We were just waiting. We have always said that Americans are so special that it would have to be something like we were both excited. That should just be nothing. ”
