Mauricio Umansky Calls Paris Hilton’s Dig at Him ‘Sad,’ but Insists There’s ‘No Bad Blood on My Side’

Mauricio Umansky has “no bad blood” with the Hilton family.

The Buying Beverly Hills star opened up about his decision to leave Rick Hilton’s Hilton & Hyland for his own real estate company, The Agency, in a preview for the Netflix show’s second season. Umansky’s niece Paris Hilton then criticized Umansky for “using the Hilton name” to shut down his show — and now, Umansky, 53, is hitting back.

“Look, it’s sad that she got so upset about it, but at the end of the day, two business people make two business decisions,” he told Party tonight on Monday.

In the teaser for the upcoming season Buying Beverly HillsUmansky explained a bit about why he walked away from the firm to start his own in 2011. He said it bluntly, claiming that “Hilton & Hyland kind of screwed him over” by not becoming a partner.

“I felt like I deserved something,” Umansky says now ET. “I asked for something, he didn’t want to do it, and then I decided to go on my own. I wanted to take care of my family, I wanted to be successful, I wanted to move forward, I wanted to do the best I could, and at the end of the day, I made that decision just to get on with this thing. There’s certainly no bad blood on my side.”

Umansky is the estranged husband of Kyle Richards, who is the half-sister of Paris’ mom, Kathy Hilton.

Paris (43) responded to the teaser on social media on Tuesday.

“My father is a perfect gentleman and always took the higher road. He would never talk negatively about his family – especially in the press,” Paris wrote in a since-deleted comment on @queensofbravo’s post. “Honestly, we’re all sick of him using the Hilton name every chance he gets to plug his poor show. ”

Umansky also said in the trailer that Richards, 55, is “100% supportive” of his decision to leave the company.

“I’m Rick’s brother-in-law, but unfortunately, it got bad because it really affected the family, Kyle more than anybody… She stood by me, and at the end of the day, I needed that,” he said. .

Richards will appear Buying Beverly Hills season 2, PEOPLE previously reported. The couple separated after 27 years of marriage in July 2023. Another trailer shows the moment the couple broke the news to their daughters.

Buying Beverly Hills season 2 premieres March 22 on Netflix.
