Max, 36, who had a pacemaker fitted last month, will have a biopsy to try to find out his life-threatening heart problem.
In an exclusive interview with The Sun, Max also revealed how:
- HE scattered over his Christmas presents fearing they would be his last;
- MESSAGES of support poured in from the players of his beloved Man City;
- HE is looking forward to the holidays with actress girlfriend Maisie Smith;
- TRAGIC bandmate Tom Parker was in his thoughts while in hospital.
Yesterday, The Sun on Sunday revealed that Max is thanking mum Babs for helping him with emergency treatment. He was admitted as an emergency last month before a pacemaker operation.
And in fear of dying, he wrote his will on his iPhone. Now he is facing a new trauma.
Max said: “The doctors discovered enlarged lymph nodes in my lungs.
“This could be a sign of the cause of my heart problems.
“I have to have a lung biopsy in a few weeks. Sounds pretty gnarly. That could tell us what the cause is.”
He also revealed he had ordered dozens of Christmas presents, including artwork for Maisie, 23, and a Liam Gallagher jacket for his brother Jack, 38.
He said: “I thought it would be my last Christmas so I spent so much money.”
I was so sure I was going to die, says Max George, I made a heartbreaking decision in the hospital after heart surgery.
Max was reunited with former EastEnders star Maisie, his family and Albert the bulldog on Christmas Eve.
He said of the dog: “I really missed him. He is like my son. My family was by my side and I was very grateful to them.”
Max said he begged his surgeon to avoid a chest tattoo he has in memory of Tom, who died of a brain tumor in 2022.
He said about his pacemaker: “I was told that I have a chance to live a normal life, which is more than many have. Thinking about Tom helped me.”

Max said he had been inundated with messages of support, including from Manchester City stars.
And he’s looking forward to the holidays with Maisie and his mum.
He said: “Maisie wants to go skiing, she’s the boss, so we’ll see.”
Max is due to perform with The Wanted 2.0 at Manchester Cathedral on Thursday February 27 and said: “I can’t wait to get on stage again.
“I feel like an old man, but every day I feel a little stronger.”
