Season 17 of America’s Got Talent (AGT) ends Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at 8:00 p.m. ET on NBC. The winner of this season is the Lebanese dance group Mayyas. Not only did they win the championship, but they also earned $1 million and the chance to perform live on America’s Got Talent at the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas.

A look back at Mayyas’ experience in AGT Season 17.
Mayyas launched AGT with the aim of breaking the stereotypes surrounding Arab women. Nadim Cherfan, their choreographer, said before their audition that Lebanon is not a country where dancing can become a profession and that this atypical path is much more difficult for women. The group stepped onto the stage with complete confidence in their routine for the audition round. When asked by the judges what they could expect from their performance, the women said their dance would leave everyone spellbound. The ensemble received rave reviews from the live audience in the studio, as well as a standing ovation from all the judges after the performance. While Sofia says it’s the most beautiful and creative dance she’s ever seen, Howie says:
“You know, you said you were going to hypnotize us, and when we sat here and saw the movement and the perfection and the amount of work and effort put into it, we were mesmerized. by what you’ve achieved.”
Simon Cowell said their performance will affect many others. He also said it could be one of the most spectacular performances they’ve ever seen on AGT. Maya’s favorite part of the show was when Sofia Vergara said she wanted to inspire more women with her performance and then hit the golden button to send them straight to the semi-finals. The Lebanese dance team performed a dance performance recounting the story of the snake in the garden of Eden in the semi-finals. The judges gave this performance another round of applause.
They then advanced to the finals, defeating other formidable opponents. The trio performed “an intricately planned dance sequence consisting of giant feathers to create the look of a main dancer’s clothing” during the final performance, which aired. on Tuesday, September 13.
The group’s spectacular performance conquered both the audience and the judges. As a result, they were named champions of AGT Season 17. Mayyas previously won Arab’s Got Talent Season 6 and became the first and only Middle Eastern dance group to compete in Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions.
