The special election to replace George Santos in New York’s 3rd Congressional District saw Mazi Pilipa win over former Democratic Rep. Tom Suozzi. Tom Suozzi won the election and denied Republicans a chance to increase their already slim majority in the House of Representatives. George Santos was removed from Congress in December 2023 due to fraud charges. Suozzi won the election and will now serve out the rest of his term. Mazi Pilip told supporters at her campaign headquarters: “We are fighters. Yes, we lost, but that doesn’t mean we’re done here. I called my opponent. I congratulated him.” “You are hard workers who love this country. So let’s keep going and keep fighting because we won’t give up. Mazi Pilip was born in 1978 or 1979. She is an Israeli-American politician who served in the Nassau County Legislature in New York, representing the 10th District as a Republican. Mazi’s full name is Mazi Melesa Pilip, who is now 44.45 years old. She holds a master’s degree in diplomacy and security from Tel Aviv University. Mazi Pilip met her future husband Adalbert Piip at the University of Haifa where she was studying. Her husband was born in Ukraine. Adalbert was an American-Ukrainian-Jewish medical student. He belongs to a family of Holocaust survivors who came from the USA to Hai to study medicine at the Technion, and later became a cardiologist. In 2005, Mazi and Adalbert got married and moved to the USA and settled in Great Neck, New York. Together, the couple has 7 children. The oldest child is 16 years old, while the youngest children are 2-year-old twins.
