Mean Girls Trailer: See Reneé Rapp, Tina Fey and Busy Philipps in First Glimpse of Musical Remake

New Mean girls I have arrived.

Paramount released the long-awaited first trailer for the reimagining of the movie musical on Wednesday Mean girls.

Plans for the film, directed by Arturo Perez Jr. and Samantha Jayne, was first announced in January 2020 by Tina Fey, who wrote both the original film and the musical, and the official cast list was unveiled in December 2022.

Based on the 2004 film and the 2018 Broadway musical of the same name. Mean girls starring Angourie Rice as Cady, Renée Rapp as Regina (reprising her Broadway role), Auli’i Cravalho as Janis, Jaquel Spivey as Damian, Anantika as Karen and Bebe Wood as Gretchen.

In February, Fey, 53, announced that she and Tim Meadows would return to their film roles as Mrs. Norbury and Principal Duvall.

Additionally, Office alumna Jenna Fischer plays Cady’s mother, and Busy Philipps is seen in the trailer as Mrs. George (who is no ordinary mom, but a cool mom). Jon Hamm also appears as Coach Carr.

In addition to Fey and Meadows, 62, reprising their roles as Mrs. Norbury and Principal Duvall, there were reports that the original Mean girls actors including Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried and Lacey Chabert could appear in the upcoming film.

Talking to Party tonight in February, Seyfried, 37, noted that she and her former co-stars were “100% in favor” of doing cameos.

“It was a long legacy Mean girlsand I think we all kind of just need to hang on,” she told the publication.

In the 2004 film, Lohan played Cady, a student who has just moved from Africa and is now an outcast at her high school. There, she learned the seriousness of social hierarchy when she met young queen bees Karen Smith (Seyfried), Gretchen Wieners (Chabert) and their leader Regina George (McAdams) — a trio fiercely known as The Plastics.

Jaquel Spivey stars as Damian, Angourie Rice stars as Cady, and Auli'i Cravalho stars as Janis in Paramount Pictures' Mean Girls.
