Meek Mill Is Ready to ‘Stop Smoking’ After Snoop Dogg Announced He’s ‘Giving Up Smoke’

Snoop Dogg inspired Meek Mill to change his lifestyle.

After Snoop (52) surprised fans by announcing he was quitting smoking, Mill (36) shared on xformerly known as Twitter, is ready to do the same.

Snoop Dogg has a message for fans: ‘I’m leaving smoke’

“There is wuit [sic] once I chill in Dubai,” he wrote in a tweet that included a photo of Snoop’s post. “Snoop started a smoke-free challenge and we followed! It’s not healthy for me!”

IN subsequent postsaid he was going to follow in Snoop’s footsteps because his doctor told him he had “a little [of] emphysema” and that smoking cuts his “lifeline in half.” According to the Mayo Clinic, “emphysema is a lung condition that causes shortness of breath. In people with emphysema, the air sacs in the lungs (alveoli) are damaged.”

Symptoms of emphysema include shortness of breath, nails that turn blue or gray, and mental restlessness, according to the Mayo Clinic.

“I was addicted to nicotine and this new weed has got too many chemicals and it’s too risky to play with my mental abilities,” he added.

While both tweets included mixed responses from fans, many praised his decision.

One fan wrote: “Facts! Smoking is not healthy for everyone! Any type of smoke in your lungs is bad.. especially if you’ve been smoking for years.” Another replied: “This is good bro! I love seeing influential people use their influence for good things.”

Given that Snoop was previously vocal about his love of smoking before he went public, many celebrities often shared their experiences of getting high with the rapper.

In the October episode Conan O’Brien needs a friend podcast, Ed Sheeran opened up about smoking weed with Snoop backstage after a concert.

“I was in the locker room and they were just [smoking] Blunt for blunt for blunt for blunt for blunt, and I mean, I guess at some point during the night I’m going to have to, just to be like, ‘I smoked with Snoop Dogg,'” Sheeran, 32, said.

“So I got some, and I said, ‘I don’t feel too bad. This is good,'” he recalled. “Then I have a little more, and then I have a little more, and then I have a little more. I just remember looking at him and saying, ‘I can’t see right now.’ ”

In October, Snoop revealed to PEOPLE his life motto as he ages.
