Monika Hoffman, Mike Hoffman’s wife, gave birth to their first child in August of this year. Monika and the NHL star have been married for five years. The Hoffmans were already embroiled in a legal battle. The dispute began when the wife of his former teammate Erik Karlsson, Melinda, accused him of cyberbullying. Hoffman and Karlsson traded accusations, but in the end no criminal charges were brought against Monika. Karlsson was acquired by the San Jose Sharks, while Hoffman was acquired by the Florida Panthers.
Both sides appeared to have given up on their courtroom drama. Hoffman currently plays for the San Jose Sharks, and Karlsson rose to prominence, becoming the highest-paid defenseman in 2019 with a $92 million contract.

Mike Hoffman’s wife, Monika Hoffman, has been in trouble before. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why he avoids social media. Monika, the wife of an NHL player, earned a BA in Criminology from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2014. She previously worked as a travel agent for Pro Travel Network and as a manager for Abercrombie & Fitch.
Monika does not have an Instagram account. Her Facebook account hasn’t been changed in five years. Monika is visible to NHL fans because of her husband’s Instagram account. Mike posted multiple pictures of himself with his wife on social media, and was her staunchest supporter during her court battle in 2018. At the time, the couple had yet to tie the knot.
Monika Hoffman and Melinda Karlsson Court drama
Erik Karlsson’s wife, Melinda Karlsson, and Monika were previously acquaintances. Their spouses were colleagues and teammates on the Ottawa Senators. However, Melinda Karlsson filed a lawsuit against Monika in 2018 for alleged online violence. The Karlssons accused Monika of sending them offensive tweets and e-mails. In May 2018, they also submitted a request for Monika’s protection.
Melinda accused Monika of multiple remarks in which she expressed her desire for the death of her unborn child. She further said that Monika told her that she was dead and that her husband’s legs should be cut off to end his career. Mike and Monika disputed the allegations, claiming they had nothing to do with the harassment. Monika also thought gossip website Talk Sports played a role in Melissa’s decision to turn on her.
Monika later hired an IT expert, Kevin Horrocks, in the lawsuit to verify that the disparaging posts were not generated from her IP address. Horrocks’ analysis determined that the derogatory posts were not posted from Monica’s IP address. But the damage was already done. The club parted ways with Hoffman and Karlsson. After that event, the Karlsson family founded the “Can’t Dim My Light” foundation to raise donations and awareness against bullying.
The marriage of Mike and Monica Hoffman
Mike and Monika met when they were in high school. But before their wedding, Mike did not reveal anything about Monica on his Instagram profile. The NHL couple announced their engagement before the scandal broke. Mike proposed on one knee in 2018, and the two tied the knot in 2019 despite a legal battle.
The wedding was held at Chateau LeParc in Vaughan, Canada. Rebecca Chan, their wedding planner, posted many pictures from their wedding on her website. She characterized the event as a ‘Luxurious White event’ with white flowers, gold and sharp black details. A mariachi band performed at the ceremony, which was a pleasant surprise. Mike shared a photo of the couple enjoying themselves on the beach while on their honeymoon in Hawaii. The couple revealed earlier this year that they had become parents for the first time.
On June 2, 2023, Mike posted several photos of his newborn. They named their daughter London Parker Hoffman. Mike recently posted a family picture of the couple enjoying their first Christmas as parents. Mike was carrying his daughter as the three of them stood by a massive Christmas tree decorated with ornaments.
