Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly Have ‘Tons of Trust Issues’ But Neither ‘Wants to Give the Other Up,’ Source Says (Exclusive)

Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly’s relationship remains rocky, a source close to the couple tells PEOPLE exclusively.

“One day they’re up, the next they’re down,” says the source.

A couple who started dating in 2020 after meeting on set Midnight at Switchgrassthey have already told how intensely their relationship began.

“I didn’t know what [love] it was until me and her made eye contact,” Kelly said. “That’s when I said, ‘Wow,'” Kelly (real name Colson Baker) said on The Howard Stern Show back in September 2020. During that interview, Kelly said it was love at first sight, adding, “The first time I really fell in love.”

In November 2020, Fox said they had a relationship of “mythical proportions” and “loving him is like being in love with a tsunami or a forest fire.”

They announced their engagement in January 2022 and sealed their union by drinking each other’s blood.

“That intensity is still there after almost four years of their relationship, but it’s not necessarily ‘hello,'” says the source.

“There’s still a ton of trust issues between them and it’s very toxic,” the source concluded. They can’t stay away from each other and there’s a lot of history there, but they also don’t know how to be in a healthy relationship,” explains the source. “They’ll be fine, and then days later they get into a relationship and have a huge fight and not talk for weeks, but then let go and be loving again.”

Fox, 37, confirmed that their engagement was off sometime in 2023 while appearing on Call her dad podcast earlier this week.

“You got engaged and I think it was called off…how would you describe your relationship with MGK?” host Alex Cooper asked.

“I have no comment on the status of the relationship per se at this time,” Fox replied. “What I can say [is] that [he’s] what I call my ‘soul mate’. She will always be by his side no matter what. I can’t say for sure what the capacity will be, but I will always be somehow connected to it.”

“Besides, I’m not willing to explain, but all those things you said were the exact things that happened,” Jennifer’s body the actress replied.

A source confirms that the engagement plans have been cancelled.

“They never picked up the wedding plans or got to the point where they could think about an actual wedding,” the source said.

“Neither seems to want to give up on the other, even though they both know it’s not healthy,” the source concluded.
