Megan Thee Stallion Says Other Artists Dissing Her 'Makes Me Feel Good': 'I Must Be Some Kind of Competition'

Megan Thee Stallion has no problem with her hip-hop peers making diss songs about her — in fact, she believes it means she’s doing something good.

In the new cover for Billboardthe “Savage” rapper, 29, opened up about being the subject of lyrics in songs by artists like Nicki Minaj, Drake and Eminem.

“I’ll keep doing what I’m doing. If people feel like I’m someone they can target, then I must be pretty high if you’re trying to get me. I must be some kind of competition,” she said. “That makes me feel good. It makes me feel like I could rap because if I wasn’t a dick, you wouldn’t care about me.”

Here’s Everyone Eminem Dissed (Playfully Or Not!) On New Song ‘Houdini’

Megan was first targeted by Drake in 2022 on the song “Circo Loco,” which appeared to make light of a 2020 incident in which rapper Tory Lanez shot and injured Megan in the foot (Lanez was sentenced to 10 years last year prison).

Eminem’s recent song “Houdini” also referenced Megan and the shooting, as did Minaj’s “FTCU,” which came out last year (“Stay in your Tory Lanez, bitch, I’m not Iggy,” Minaj raps).

In response to Minaj, Megan (born Megan Pete) responded with a song of her own called “Hiss,” in which she rapped, “These hoes ain’t mad at Megan / These hoes are mad at Megan’s Law.” (Megan’s Law) is a federal law that provides the public with information about registered sex offenders; Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, is a registered sex offender who was convicted in 1995 of attempted first-degree rape of a 16-year-old girl.) A few days later, Minaj released another song called “Big Foot,” which seemed to be a direct response to Megan’s “Meganin law”.

When asked by Billboard if she and Minaj, 41, could one day reconcile, Megan said she’s not even sure why they ever ate beef.

“To this day, I still don’t know what the problem is,” she said. “I don’t even know what could be reconciled because even today I don’t know what the problem is.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Megan said that she used to “really care about how I made a lot of people feel, rather than how they made me feel” — but that she’s now working on setting boundaries.

“It was all about making other people smile and making other people happy. Now I’m in a space where I want to be happy,” said the Grammy-winning star. “I won’t take it away [from] to be happy so that I can prioritize other people’s lives and happiness over my own.”
