Megan Thee Stallion was born as Megan Jovon Ruth Pete (born 2021) on Wednesday, February 15, 1995, in San Antonio, Texas. Megan spent her childhood in the South Park neighborhood of Houston. She became interested in rap after listening to the rap music of her mother, Holly Thomas, who raps under the stage name “Holly-Wood.” In an interview, she said,
My mom was the first female rapper I knew. I was like, OK, yeah, that’s normal. Everybody does it.”
Holly used to take Megan with her to recording sessions instead of sending her to daycare. In the studio, Holly thought her daughter was coloring books and watching TV, but Megan would watch her mom work intently. In an interview, she said,

In 2013, while pursuing a degree in Healthcare Administration at Prairie View A&M University in Texas, Megan rocked the crowd at a college party with her rap, after which her friends encouraged her to start a YouTube channel. On February 19, 2021, Megan Thee Stallion revealed her relationship with American singer-songwriter Pardison Fontaine during an Instagram live broadcast. During the live broadcast, she responded to fans’ concerns about the heated argument between the two that went viral on the internet. She said,
I didn’t like what they were trying to say about Paddy. Because he was very calm and very sweet. And very, you know… that was my baby. I really loved him… he was so perfect and he would never do anything to hurt me, you know.”

Although Megan Thee Stallion started rapping while in college, the turning point of her journey as a rapper was when a video of Megan defeating her male opponent in a freestyle rap competition went viral on the internet. In 2017, she came into the limelight with the song “Stalli Freestyle”.

- On July 12, 2020, Canadian famous rapper Tory Lanez was charged with carrying a concealed weapon in his car. During his arrest in the Hollywood Hills, the police stopped his car and found Lanez with Megan Thee Stallion, who had a foot injury. Earlier, Megan claimed that her foot was injured by broken glass, but later, she revealed that she had a gunshot wound in her foot and she underwent surgery. Finally, she accused Lanez of shooting her and said:
I didn’t tell the police right away what happened because I didn’t want to die.”
Lanez dismissed all the allegations as invalid, saying he was framed by Megan’s PR team. Another fact Megan revealed was that Lanez and his team had offered her money to keep quiet about the incident. After Lanez was accused of assaulting Megan Thee Stallion, a restraining order was issued by the court, requiring Lanez to stay at least 100 yards away from Megan and not to contact her.

Her appearance has sparked controversy as her fans claim her photos are inaccurate because the photographer was unable to capture her skin tone correctly. On Harper’s Bazaar’s Instagram post, an anonymous user wrote a comment that read:
No, that’s not the case – the photographer didn’t even know how to properly capture Megan’s skin in any of the photos. Hopefully he’ll learn a lot from this.”

You clearly need a black creative director. This is too bad.”
Photographer Collier Schorr has since ended the debate with a tweet, writing:
