Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Have a Jumbotron Moment at Star-Studded Invictus Games Opening Ceremony

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry begin the official start of the Invictus 2025 game in Canada.

On Saturday, February 8, the Duke and Duchess attended the opening ceremony of the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 at the Vancouver BC. The adaptive sports tournament, which Harry founded in 2014, will be held on February 16th and celebrate the strength and courage of the wounded, injured and sick official staff and veterans around the world.

At the opening ceremony, which people attend, the couple cheered the athletes as they entered during the parade of the people, and Meghan used their phone camera to capture the action.

At one point, Meghan and Harry appeared on a jumbotron, attracting big fans from the crowd. Meghan turned to her husband, smiling and rubbing his back as he gave the wave.

The stars ceremony will see performances by Katy Perry, Noah Kahan, Nelly Furtado, Roxane Bruneau and Chris Martin of Coldplay. Martin has a special association with the games – not only compiled Antyctus Anthem in 2014, inspired by the song “Invictus” by William Ernest Henley, but his music was the sound record of the Games Medal Ceremonies.

This year’s Invictus Games will present up to 550 athletes from 25 countries competing in 11 adaptive sports. It is a significant turning point for games that extend to winter adaptive sports such as alpine skiing, snowboarding and skeletons – with basic basketball and swimming events in a wheelchair.

Meghan Markle to join Prince Harry on Invictus Games in the support of support: ‘No separation’

This will be the fifth time Meghan and Harry attended Invictus games together, previously supported the event in Sydney, Australia; Haag, Netherlands; and Düsseldorf, Germany.

For Harry and Meghan, games have personal significance. Canada was central in their journey, from their first public appearance as a couple at the Invictus 2017 games in Toronto until their time, living on Vancouver Island after deviation from royal duties in 2020.

The closing ceremony of Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler will present Jelly Roll’s performances, Barenaced Ladies and The War and the Treaty, rounding out an event with high-energy sending.

Robyn Mcvicker, Chief Operational Director of Invictus Games, previously told people that Harry had “entry” when it came to selecting the main works.
