Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Match Nigeria's Flag in Major Style Moment!

After visiting a school in the capital Abuja on Friday, May 10, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex continued their busy first day in Nigeria with a visit to the Chief of Defense Staff.

In between the two outings, the couple made a quick outfit change, swapping out their looks from earlier in the day for outfits that reflect the colors of the Nigerian flag: white and green. Meghan wore a white suit with pants from Altuzarra, while Harry wore a teal suit.

Members of the royal family often pay tribute to the countries they visit by dressing in the national colors.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were officially welcomed by Nigeria’s Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa OFR, who invited the couple to visit the country.

The stop was the second on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s first day in Nigeria, which began in Abuja with a visit to Lightway Academy with the GEANCO Foundation, which provides vital health and education services across the country. There, the pair delivered inspirational welcoming remarks at the inaugural Mental Health Summit and urged young people to stay in tune with their mental health.

The expansion of the charitable partnership between GEANCO and the Duke and Duchess of Archewell Foundation was also announced at Lightway Academy, where the Duchess of Sussex further revealed what their children, Prince Archie (5) and Princess Lilibet (2) have been up to lately!

Meghan mentioned that “singing and dancing” was her daughter’s “favorite class,” possibly because of “all her jumping,” and that her son loved building, while the kids showed off their robotic projects in STEM class.

Over the next three days, Prince Harry, 39, and Meghan, 42, will work with members of the military associated with the Invictus Games, an international adaptive sports competition for wounded servicemen, women and veterans founded by Prince Harry in 2014. They will also participate in cultural activities and charitable visits.

Prince Harry traveled to the UK earlier this week to attend a number of events associated with the Invictus Games Foundation to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the international adaptive sports tournament for wounded, injured and ill service personnel and veterans he founded in 2014. On Friday morning, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were pictured arriving at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

In a statement, Brigadier General Tukur Vusau, Acting Director of Defense Information in Nigeria, said of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s trip: “The visit is aimed at consolidating Nigeria’s strong influence at the game and the ability to host the event in subsequent years. ”

Meghan revealed she is 43% Nigerian after taking a genealogy test a few years ago, something Harry touched on in his opening speech at last year’s Invictus Games.

“Now, I’m not saying we play favorites in our home, but since my wife found out she’s of Nigerian descent, it’s probably going to be a bit more competitive this year,” the Duke of Sussex joked during a ceremony in Düsseldorf, Germany, in September 2023.
