Meghan Trainor Getting ‘Fit’ for Upcoming Tour: ‘I Want to Feel Good When I’m Dancing and Singing’ (Exclusive)

Meghan Trainor wants to be her best as she prepares for her new tour!

On Wednesday, PEOPLE spoke exclusively with the “Been Like This” singer at Audacy’s Leading Ladies event, hosted by Olay Body, at the Kings Theater in Brooklyn.

To coincide with her new single, which features T-Pain, Trainor has a new album that will return her to the touring sphere for the first time in seven years.

When asked how it feels to headline The Timeless Tour later this year after taking so much time off, the “All About That Bass” hitmaker kept things on a positive note.

“I feel fine. I’ve never been in such good shape,” she tells PEOPLE, adding that her family is on board to help her prepare for the tour.

Trainor married her husband Daryl Sabar in December 2018, and the couple has two children – sons Riley (3) and Barry, who was born in July 2023.

“I already told my housemates. I said, ‘I’m training for the Olympics, okay?’ I want to train and eat clean, and feel good while dancing and singing. I don’t want to be so upset, because I’m upset right now,” she says.

The Grammy-awarded pop star also pointed out that her upcoming album will Timeless will be released on Sabara’s birthday on June 14.

“You’re welcome,” adds the mother of two, suggesting that her project is a gift to him.

She also joked that she would probably be “busy” promoting her album on his birthday.

However, Trainor assured fans that he “gets it” and also said he was present and showing his support at Wednesday’s event.

A few seconds later, Spy children alum joined his wife just as the couple began discussing the possibility of expanding their family.

“We’re going to have two more kids,” she said, and he agreed.

For a long time, the singer spoke openly about wanting more children. In December 2022, Trainor told PEOPLE that she hoped to be pregnant in 2023. “I’m trying to have four children,” she said at the time.

When asked how he felt Timeless when he was released on his birthday, Sabara completely agreed. “How cool is that?” he asked.

Before ending the conversation, they talked about the moments when they feel most comfortable in their own skin.

“I sing these songs!” Trainor tells PEOPLE. She adds that her entire album probably has “the most narcissistic, pop-bangers ever on one album.”

As for Sabara, she says she feels good “at night”. After a brief laugh between the pair, he explains that this is usually when the two of them “put the kids to bed” and have some time to themselves.

“Evening date”, says the singer of the song “I ja”.

The Timeless Tour kicks off on September 4 with special guests Natasha Bedingfield, Paul Russell, Chris Olsen and Ryan Trainor — Meghan’s younger brother.

“We’re going to play the hits and we’re going to rock this new album and rock everything [previous] album,” the singer teases of her upcoming tour. “Now I have five!”
