During rewatch Sabrina the Teenage Witch, a fan noticed that the cast of the show suddenly started wearing a lot of patriotic clothing in Season 6 and shared the observation on TikTok.
“They had a wardrobe team working nationalism overtime!” user exbottom wrote alongside a video compilation of all the red, white and blue worn by the characters in Season 6, which aired on October 5, 2001, nearly a month after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Nearly 500,000 others agreed with the fan’s eagle-eyed observation, including Melissa Joan Hart.
The actress, who played teenage witch Sabrina Spellman for all seven seasons, confirmed that she and her co-stars actually took a patriotic approach to their on-screen appearance as a “symbol of support” amid the despair that has set in in the US following the devastating events.

“I’m not sure I’ve ever shared this, but after #9/11 our nation united in so many beautiful ways to stand up to our neighbors and against terrorism,” Hart, 47, captioned a video in which she was seen wearing more stars-and-stripes clothing and accessories — and many of her co-stars have been seen in shades of red, white, and blue (even going so far as to stack poker chips in the shape of the American flag).
She continued: “On #SabrinaTheTeenageWitch I insisted on wearing red, white and blue every episode (as did my cast) as a small symbol of our support for a nation in mourning and confusion.”

Hart’s former co-star, Elisa Donovan, who played Morgan Cavanaugh on the sitcom that ran from 1996 to 2003, shared her own thoughts on that season in Hart’s comments: “I remember filming all of this. What a time that was.”

The cast of Sabrina the Young Witch: Where Are They Now?
This year marks the 27th anniversary of the TV classic. When is 2021? Sabrina the teenage witch reached his silver jubilee, Hart marked the milestone on Instagram.
“It has been brought to my attention that 25 years ago today, September 27, 1996, our show first aired on ABC for 7 seasons,” the 45-year-old actress captioned a slideshow of photos from the show. “A little engine we could call since he was overshadowed by the highly anticipated series #Clueless, but he persisted and we had to steal @reddonovan to join our fun lineup.”
Hart added: “Tons of talented guest stars, musical acts and magic TV tricks over the years. Full of friendships and crazy memories, it’s been an amazing ride for sure! Thanks for the love and support that helps us do what we love to do, make people laugh !! Happy #SabrinatheTeenageWitch Day!”
