Salt Lake City police suspect that Melvin Shawn Rowland, who fatally shot student Lauren McCluskey on the University of Utah campus last week, broke into another woman’s home twice in 2015, according to documents released Monday.

Rowland was convicted of sex crimes in 2004, was first released in 2012, and was returned to Utah State Prison multiple times before being granted his last parole in April 2018.
