Prom is no joke for students at Booker T. Washington High School.
With prom season in full swing, it’s no surprise that teenagers are showing off their over-the-top looks to end the school year on social media.
However, kids attending a prom in Miami have gone viral on TikTok for donning some of the most extravagant dresses and suits in the history of modern prom fashion.
It all started when Camilo Castro, a recent Booker T. Washington graduate who goes by the name @laylow_camilo on TikTok and Instagram, uploaded two videos of his classmates’ gorgeous prom outfits, many of which were modeled after iconic costumes from popular fairy tales and Disney movies.
One couple decided to dress up as Belle and Beast from Beauty and the Beast (and yes, one half of the duo decided to wear a realistic headdress over their blue suit). Another duo dedicated themselves to Cinderella and Prince Charming, riding in a horse-drawn carriage.
Two other students dressed up as princesses Jasmine and Aladdin and dressed up to the max, except they didn’t fly up on a magic carpet (or a tag team on a hoverboard made to look like one). Instead, they drove up in a shiny Mercedes-Benz car and greeted people through the sunroof.

Both of Castro’s videos on TikTok have millions of views and thousands of comments from outsiders marveling at the lavish outfits, with some even going so far as to compare the local event to the Met Gala. The extravaganza was also well-received in real life as crowds of onlookers can be seen cheering on the students in Castro’s clips.

Students at Miami Northwestern High School have gone viral for several years thanks to their looks and increased transportation to prom. According to Miami HeraldA Lamborghini, Mercedes Benz, BMW and Rolls Royce, as well as a Tesla Cybertruck with a police escort, were spotted at the scene of the school’s 2024 prom, which was titled “Majestic Beauty: A Night of Elegance and Class.”
“This is the norm,” said Northwestern alum Tyeshia Bryant, who shared a video of the epic arrivals on social media. “But this class set the bar a little higher because everyone understood the task.”
