But when the 51-year-old was put in jail, a different victim came forward and informed police that Buchanan had repeatedly assaulted him sexually. According to the victim, the three years of abuse began when he was four years old.
At a previous hearing at the High Court in Edinburgh, Buchanan acknowledged engaging in a number of obscene and libidinous acts between May 1990 and May 1993. The victim of Buchanan, according to the prosecution’s Adrian Stalker, had experienced trauma that would last a lifetime.
The complainant has said that the abuse has had a significant impact on his mental health, according to Mr Stalker. In response to what has been done to him, he has voiced rage. In imposing Buchanan’s sentence, Lord Beckett noted that a background check revealed “concerning information” about his attitudes towards criminal behaviour.
The judge also stated that he want to safeguard “the public from serious harm from you upon your release.” At his sentencing, Buchanan received a three-and-a-half-year prison sentence with a lifetime restriction order.
For physically and sexually assaulting minors between 1982 and 2003, Buchanan was sentenced to prison in 2017.
In Edinburgh, he preyed on his mostly youthful victims at a number of locations, primarily in the Wester Hailes neighbourhood.
Last year, after Buchanan’s convictions, the man came forward to the police, attorney depute Mr. Stalker explained before Lord Beckett. The claims surfaced following the investigation into the accused’s offence, he continued.
The defendant’s attorney, Niall McCluskey, informed Lord Beckett that his client had admitted guilt. He continued, “He maintains his previously made appeal. He acknowledges guilt for his transgressions.
