Michael Cera, Rachel Weisz, Colman Domingo to Narrate Pedro Almodóvar’s The Last Dream

Michael Cera, Rachel Weisz, Colman Domingo and more gather to pay tribute to Pedro Almodóvar’s life’s work.

In a press release shared with PEOPLE on Thursday, Sept. 19, it was announced that the audiobook version willThe last dream — out in hardcover and e-book from HarperVia on September 24 — has some serious star power.

The book, which serves as Almodóvar’s debut in English, was translated from the Spanish version by Frank Wynne.

In addition, Norbert Leo Butz, Juan Diego Botto and Taylour Paige will also be featured as narrators for The last dream — a debut collection of short stories.

Almodóvar, 74, describes the book as “A fragmentary autobiography, incomplete and somewhat enigmatic,” according to a press release.

“Through the audiobook, readers will hear a series of personal accounts of the film icon dating from the late 60s to the present day, ranging from memoirs, comedies, autofiction, pastiche and gothic fiction,” added the announcement from the Spanish film director and screenwriter. . “The audiobook cast lifts Almodóvar’s stories off the page and provides listeners with a unique and immersive experience.”

In Almodóvar’s decades-long career, more than two dozen films were made, including A woman on the verge of a nervous breakdown, All about my mother and Talk to Her.

The director has also won several prestigious awards, such as two Oscars, five BAFTAs, two Emmys, two Golden Globes, nine Goyas, the French Legion of Honor, the Golden Medal of Merit in the Fine Arts, the European Film Academy Award for Achievement in world cinema and the Golden Lion.

His next film, Room next dooris slated for release in December 2024 and will star Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore.

At the premiere of his film in New York A problem solver in February, Swinton, 63, spoke exclusively to PEOPLE about working with Almodóvar on the upcoming comedy drama.

“Oh, you can expect a really delicate Pedro Almodóvar film that’s really about adults dealing with tricky adult things about friendship,” the British actress told PEOPLE about the film. “I mean, it’s really about good, good friends and what good friends do for each other.”

The last dream is out on September 24th and is now available for pre-order in all formats wherever books are sold.
