Michael Dean Cohen is an American attorney barred from practicing law. From 2006 to 2018, he worked as a lawyer for US President Donald Trump. He is vice president of the Trump Organization and Trump’s personal adviser, and the media often calls him Trump’s “fixer”.
He is the co-chair of Trump Entertainment and a board member of the Eric Trump Foundation, a children’s health charity. From 2017 to 2019, he served as vice chair of the Republican National Finance Committee. In 2018, he pleaded guilty to eight counts of bank fraud, tax fraud, and campaign finance violations following an FBI investigation. On October 11, 2018, he re-registered as a Democrat.

Michael began his legal career in 1992 when he began practicing personal injury law. Before joining the Donald Trump Organization, he worked for a law firm. He eventually became a Trump confidant after helping Trump take control of the tenancy management at “Trump World Tower.” In 2008, he was appointed CEO of Affliction Entertainment, an MMA promotion agency. He continued to show his support for Trump over the next few years, until 2018. In January 2017, a private intelligence report titled “Trump-Russia Dossier” claimed that Cohen met with several Russian officials in the Czech Republic. It is also alleged that he promised Russian officials large sums of money if they succeeded in hacking the “Democratic National Committee” (DNC). Cohen, on the other hand, has denied conversations with Russian officials prompted the investigation. The work of “Essential Consultants LLC” was called into question the following year. Cohen founded “Essential Consultants”, a Delaware shell company, to facilitate confidential payments. The investigation was launched after questions were raised about the company’s payments. In April 2018, the FBI searched Cohen’s home, hotel room, and office. Several business records, e-mails and tax records were seized following the raid. On August 21, 2018, he turned himself in to the FBI. He later pleaded guilty to eight counts, including five of tax evasion. His sentencing date was December 12, 2018 and the judge decided he could be released on $500,000 bail.
