Michael J. Fox Gets Standing Ovation as Back to the Future Cast Reunites at Rhode Island Comic Con

The cast Back to the future went back in time at Rhode Island Comic Con.

Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson and Thomas F. Wilson, stars of the 1985 time travel adventure classic, had a celebratory reunion with fans on Sunday, Nov. 3, that included a Q&A about the film and its two sequels.

As the stars took to the stage, Fox – who was holding hands with Thompson – was greeted by a roaring crowd as he approached the stage, giving him a warm welcome.

Marty McFly aka Fox (63) reflected on the four decades that have passed since the film directed by Robert Zemeckis Back to the future became a hit. “I didn’t know what the hell I was getting myself into,” the actor said as the audience burst into laughter, before later calling the franchise’s debut film “one of the few perfect movies.”

The actors of ‘Back to the Future’: Where are they now?

For Thompson, 63, playing Marty’s mother Lorraine made her feel “lucky” because she’s “still so grateful to be known for a big role in a great movie.” She added that the film’s message about small actions causing drastic changes is “one of the reasons why I think the film resonates deeply with people.”

“I thought the script was amazing,” she added. “When I read the script, I was delighted. From that moment I thought there was something special.”

Wilson, 65, who played Biff Tannen, further spoke about the impact his antagonist character had on the real-life bullies he encountered. “I’ve been contacted by abusers, people who in their lives as adults have been forced to go and apologize to people and realize the things that made them who they are and the things they have to do to get out of it,” he shared.
