Michael Jackson's Son Prince Remembers Late Star on 15th Anniversary of His Death: 'World Felt Better with You in It'

Members of Michael Jackson’s family, including his brothers and son Prince, are paying tribute to the King of Pop on the 15th anniversary of his death.

The “Thriller” singer died on June 25, 2009 at the age of 50 – and more than a decade later, his son Prince, 27, shared a photo on his Instagram story of his dad smiling as he performed with the kids during the Super Halftime Show Bowla XXVII. show in 1993

“I miss you dad,” Prince, who was just 12 when he lost his father, captioned the photo. “The world felt better with you in it.”

Jackson’s eldest brother Jackie, 73, also shared a picture on Instagram of himself singing with his younger brother in the early days of their careers.

“Hard to believe it’s been 15 years without you ❤️‍🩹 We miss you everyday 🕊️,” Jackie captioned his post.

The siblings’ brother Tito, 70, shared a simple black-and-white portrait of the superstar and added the hashtags “15 years without Michael Jackson,” “Gone too soon,” “Always in our hearts,” “I miss you,” “MJ4ever” and “Without words.”

Tito’s son TJ, 45, also paid tribute to his late uncle with a caption on Instagram that read: “I miss you so much Uncle Michael. Thank you for everything you have done for me. I will always feel like the luckiest nephew to have you as an eternal source of strength, guidance and love. I love you forever.”

Jackson – who would have been 65 – died of cardiac arrest brought on by a fatal combination of drugs, and his doctor, Conrad Murray, was convicted of manslaughter in 2011.

A musical biopic starring his nephew Jaafar Jackson (27) is currently being worked on by director Antoine Fuqua.

The winner of 13 Grammys shared Prince and daughter Paris (26) with ex-wife Debbie Rowe, and was also the father of son Bigi (22).

In 2022, Prince spoke openly about his father’s legacy, telling PEOPLE that he thinks about him “every day.”

“There are many complexities in life that I feel parents teach their children [about], so without that there is confusion,” he said. “And also, it’s a great heritage to preserve, you know? It would be great if I knew how he would like it supported. So that’s how I think about him every day.”

Prince also said that he regularly listens to his father’s music because it contains “so much of his personality.”

In March, all three Jackson siblings made a rare red carpet appearance together to honor their father at a London preview MJ: The musical.

“We have such a close relationship and being the eldest, my father would always tell me that I have to make sure the group is looked after and I have to be a leader and lead by example.” Prince said in an interview for 2021 Good morning Britain. “But after his death and us being thrown into the ‘real world’, my siblings honestly picked up what I unfortunately left behind.”
