Michael Zerafa’s career
On October 24, 2014, he lost to Arif Magomedov in his first fight outside of Australia, fighting for the WBO Asia Pacific and junior middleweight titles.
On September 12, 2015, he lost by knockout to Peter Quillin in his second fight outside of Australia. Due to the consequences of the knockout, he had to leave Borana on a stretcher.
On April 22, 2016, Zerafa defeated Yosuke Kirima for the IBF Pan Pacific Middleweight title.
On November 5, 2018, it was announced that Zarafa would face Kell Brook at Sheffield Arena in a WBA super welterweight title eliminator on December 8, 2018. He lost the fight via unanimous decision.
On April 12, 2019, Zarafa returned to Australia and defeated Les Sherrington by knockout.
He then defeated Jeff Horn for the WBA Oceania middleweight title in Bendigo on August 31, 2019, this time winning by technical knockout. At the time, Horn was ranked #3 in the WBA, #5 in the WBO, and #14 in the IBF.
On November 9, 2019, Zarafa was sparring with Dwight Richie when Richie collapsed mid-round after being kicked in the chest. Richie could not be revived and later died.
On April 20, 2022, Zerafa faced Isaac Hardman in an IBF title eliminator at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, where Zerafa knocked Hardman out in the second round.
