Micheal Ward is a Jamaican-born British model and actor, known for his roles as Marco in the British film Blue Story (2019), Jamie in the TV series Top Boy (2019) and Brendan in The A List (2018).

When he was four, his family moved to Hackney, London, where he spent his childhood. In the bustling multicultural area of Hackney, he witnessed many seemingly harmless incidents escalate to dangerous levels. In an interview, he said,
Growing up, I was so scared to go to those parts of London! … Especially back then – you know south London wasn’t the place to be. I just didn’t want to go there. Same thing with Hackney. It wasn’t for me. ”
As a teenager, he moved to Romford to attend Chadwell Heath College. While at school, he played Macduff, the main villain in William Shakespeare’s tragedy Macbeth, and became interested in acting. In an interview, he said:
What made me want to be an actor was Macbeth… We did a modern version of it at school and I played Macduff. It really brought out something in me: I loved it!
After that, he entered Epping Forest College in Loughton, England to study performing arts. He began his modeling career at the age of 17 and later signed a contract with an agent.

At 16, he worked as a delivery boy at his aunt’s Caribbean restaurant in Chadwell Heath. Before entering the entertainment industry, Ward worked in a betting shop, where people could legally place bets with licensed bookmakers. In college, one of his teachers took a liking to him. In 2014, he texted Top Boy star Ashley Walters, begging for an audition, but never received a response. Casting in Top Boy was a dream come true for Michael.
