She mentioned that one of the reasons why she made this choice was to spend more time with her family. Ted Nesi, WPRI’s politics and business editor, commented on Muscatello’s departure on Twitter, calling it a “significant loss.” Muscatello expressed her gratitude to WPRI for their love and support.

Meteorologist Michelle Muscatello has decided to leave 12 News after more than 18 years of service. She decided to leave her current position and start a new career in the private sector in order to spend more time with her family. In a post on Facebook, Muscatello expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be a part of people’s daily morning rituals and fulfill a childhood dream.
While she appreciated the thrill of weather monitoring, she said the most fulfilling component of her profession is being able to make a difference in the community. Michelle also apologized to Block Islanders for not revealing her pregnant bump during her weather forecasts for months. Muscatello has not only covered the news and worked early mornings since joining WPRI in 2004, but has also been active in a variety of other activities.
She has given presentations at schools, mentored interns, and worked with various organizations, including Make-A-Wish MA/RI and MADD. She has also volunteered for the Special Olympics, Project Undercover, the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association. Michelle admitted that her children have matured quickly, with one starting high school next year. Muscatello didn’t want to lose any more wonderful moments with her family or be too tired to enjoy their hilarious conversations and other evening activities.
Michelle Muscatello’s new job and salary
Michelle Muscatello’s next work is unknown; however, the journalist claimed that she would enter the private sector in the spring. Muscatello’s annual salary is believed to be between $45,000 and $110,500. WPRI issued a statement announcing Muscatello’s resignation and thanking her for her service.
Muscatello has been a key member of the Pinpoint Weather team for eighteen years, according to a statement. Michelle has been instrumental in reporting on severe weather such as blizzards, tornadoes and hurricanes. Muscatello’s commitment to protecting viewers during such incidents was highlighted by WPRI News Director Karen Rezendes. The statement also emphasized Muscatello’s significant importance to the team and how her loss will be deeply regretted.
In a press release, WPRI General Manager Patrick Wholey said they had anticipated her departure for some time and were adequately prepared for the transition. He also said the station will provide additional details closer to Muscatello’s departure date, which is planned for late spring. Michelle was a regular contributor to two WPRI news programs: Eyewitness News This Morning and Eyewitness News at Noon, which aired each week.
