The former Bucks coach comes from an athletic background; his father coached basketball at Holbrook High School for 25 years. Vince Budenholzer led his team to the 1971 state title and earned a spot in the Hall of Fame. Mike Budenholzer, the youngest of seven children, won the NBA Coach of the Year award twice. He won a championship while coaching two teams, first the Hawks and then the Bucks.
Budenholzer was fired by the Bucks last year after five years at the helm. He was fired after the Bucks lost in the first round of the playoffs. Adrian Griffin, his successor, was also fired after just 43 games, and Doc Rivers is now the Bucks’ next coach.

Budenholzer made his NBA debut in 1996 with the San Antonio Spurs. He began his career as the Spurs’ video coordinator before being promoted to assistant coach. He became an NBA head coach in 2013 with the Atlanta Hawks, where he led the franchise for six seasons. Mary made headlines once when Mike was with the Hawks. The Hawks head coach had to leave for one game, which he later said was due to his wife’s health issues. Budenholzer released a statement saying he had returned to Atlanta from Boston due to an emergency medical emergency involving his wife.
Budenholzer also noted that his wife is improving and praised Emory’s doctors and team. The nature of Maria’s medical problem remained unknown at the time. Mike and Mary’s second oldest child, Savoia Elizabeth Budenholzer, better known as Libby, attends the University of San Diego. She is active on Instagram and has posted countless photos with her family and friends. In 2019, she posted a picture of herself with Mike holding his Red Auerbach Trophy, which he won for the second time in his career. She captioned the photo: “Mikey Bud has done it again.” Mike’s third child is his daughter Hanna Budenholzer. He is now pursuing a bachelor’s degree at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Unlike her older sister, Hanna decided to keep her identity a secret on social media.
John Budenholzer, the former couple’s youngest child, plays for the Alamo Heights varsity basketball team. Earlier, he published his photos from basketball games on his Instagram profile. A video of his clash with Denis Schroder earlier went viral, and it’s fair to say John held his own against the NBA player.
