After a four-month delay, boxing legend Mike Tyson faced former YouTube star Jake Paul. Paul, 27, defeated the former world heavyweight champion by unanimous decision after eight rounds on Friday night. His youth proved to be an advantage over the 58-year-old.
Netflix had connection issues during part of the fight, however, they appeared to be resolved in the second round, when Paul connected several powerful shots against Tyson, which affected his performance, per Sports Illustrated.
He kept the momentum until the end of the match and eventually won. His record is now 11-1.
Both athletes talked about the big game ahead of the match.

“I am bringing the devil himself [to the ring],” Tyson told a small group of ESPN reporters earlier in the week. “There’s no hard feelings,” said Tyson, who called Paul a “friend.” “My own mother should be very careful if she has to step into the ring with me. When it’s done, it’s done. But while the process is going on, my intention is to hurt him. I hope he has the same intentions or is in trouble.”

I’m not afraid of anyone. That’s why I want him to be that old wild Mike,” Paul said at the final press conference ahead of the fight. “He says he will kill me. I’m ready. I want that killer. I want the toughest fight possible on Friday night and I want everyone at home to make no excuses when I knock him out.”
Tensions between the boxers rose after Tyson slapped Paul at the November 14 weigh-in.
Video from the weigh-in shows Paul walking up to Tyson and stomping on his leg. In retaliation, Tyson slapped Paul across the face and pointed to their feet before security separated them.

“Jake stepped on Mike’s foot, which caused a reaction,” Tom Patti, a longtime friend of Tyson’s, told USA TODAY Sports. “I was there and Mike just told me.”
“This is the moment for me. I got slapped by Mike Tyson 🤗,” Paul posted on X.
The two were originally scheduled to face each other in July, but it was postponed after Tyson had to be hospitalized due to a worsening ulcer.
During the extra weeks of preparation, Paul told PEOPLE that he had three-time Super Bowl winner Patrick Mahomes on his mind.
“It’s a cliché, but there’s a reason he’s the best,” Paul says of the 29-year-old Kansas City guard. “He continues to win and he continues to show up and be a leader. He really never has an off day and his focus is something I admire.”
