Mina Starsiak Hawk Returns to HGTV in First Appearance Since Contentious End of Good Bones (Exclusive)

Mina Starsiak Hawk returns to HGTV this week, five months after her long-running series finale Good bones.

In the premiere House Hunters: All Stars, airing Thursday, the Indiana native helps an artist named Siena find the perfect home in downtown Indianapolis after relocating from Hawaii.

In the exclusive clip above, Starsiak Hawk, who lives in town with her husband Steve Hawk and their two children — son Jack, 5, and daughter Charlie, 3 — takes Siena on a tour of one of the potential properties, an 1895 Craftsman home.

“Quite a dark facade, kind of moody exterior, but I don’t hate the colors,” notes Siena.

“Don’t hate, I’ll accept it,” replies Mina.

While Siena admits that the home is not what she expected, Mina points out that it has “character.”

“Very characterful,” agrees Siena, noting the rope lights, which Mina calls “definitely a deliberate choice.”

Mina said goodbye to good bones, in which she starred alongside her mom Karen E. Laine and several other family members, after 8 seasons in October 2023.

After the finale, she talked about the tensions with her family behind the scenes on her podcast Mine AF. She revealed that she was not “in a good place” neither with her brother Tad nor with her mother.

In a recent episode, she shared, “I think a lot of people were really weird or uncomfortable when the show ended the way it did and kind of pulled back the curtain a little bit, like, ‘Oh, she and her mom don’t have the perfect relationship that it looks like on the show. . And then people come back and say, ‘You know what? I could actually see that. I could see they were irritated with each other.’”

Mina also said that it needed to be finished Good bones because “the finances didn’t make sense”.

She explained that this is a common misconception among fans that everyone sees Good bones worked for her company, when — as she noted earlier — her relatives and other cast members have not been employed by Two Chicks “for the past few years.”

“Also, this thing happened in the background, because I was the sole owner of the company, where no one else cared. Everyone was there and just having fun, which was wonderful, and it was too much to go on.”

Mina noticed it Good bones viewers took to social media to express their disappointment at the decision to close the show.

“When it ended, they didn’t just let down the people on the show and the production team that did the show and had jobs, and my family that was paid to be on the show,” she said. “It was letting this whole world of HGTV women down and they all told me I was and they were really upset about it.”

“It’s been a very strange six months of emotional, not very good space because even though I feel like I’m very balanced about what I let into my psyche and what I don’t, it’s still very difficult to get people to say ugly things… – — all day, every day, and don’t let it affect you,” she continued.

Her new role is a special appearance as part of a larger ensemble of HGTV stars, each of whom will help a potential homeowner search for a home in their own hometown.
