Even the Minions are mesmerized by the wonders—and horrors—of artificial intelligence (AI)!
In the promotion of the new advertisement Despicable me 4that PEOPLE can exclusively reveal before it airs during Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday night, the lovable characters from the Illumination and Universal Pictures franchise create silly images using artificial intelligence.
“Artificial intelligence is changing the way we see the world, showing us things we never thought possible, transforming the way we do business, and bringing family and friends closer together,” said Jon Hamm’s voice in the opening clip, while various AI-generated images — including one of Steve Carell and Will Ferrell in royal attire — flash across the screen.
“With artificial intelligence, the future is in good hands,” the voice concludes before two Minion characters are seen gloating over their AI photos in a large office-like space filled with other Minions doing the same.
The clip then ends with a speech bubble announcing the trailer for Despicable me 4which is set to hit theaters later this year, is now available to watch.

Will Ferrell and Sofia Vergara join Steve Carell’s Gru Despicable me 4 Trailer
Despicable me 4 is the latest entry in a long-running series Despicable me and subjects animated comedy franchise. It will serve as a continuation of 2017 Despicable me 3.
The upcoming film features Gru as he, his wife Lucy (Kristen Wiig) and their adopted daughters Margo (Miranda Cosgrove), Edith (Dana Gaier) and Agnes (Madison Polan) “welcome a new member of the Gru family, Gru Jr. intent on torturing his father “, says the official synopsis.
“Gru faces a new enemy in Maxime Le Malo (Ferrell) and his femme fatale girlfriend Valentina (Sofia Vergara), and the family is forced to flee,” the synopsis continues.
In addition to Ferrell and Vergara, new additions Despicable me 4The voice cast also includes Joey King, Stephen Colbert and Saturday night liveis Chloe Fineman.
White lotus creator Mike White co-wrote Despicable me 4script with Ken Dauria, who wrote each of the four films in the series.
The new entry comes about two years later Minions: Rise of Gruspinoff of the main one Despicable me series, earned $369 million at the domestic box office and was the sixth highest-grossing film of 2022.
