Minneapolis Man’s Body Stuffed in Trash Can After Being Shot to Death

The bullet-riddled body of a Minneapolis man was found in a trash can Sunday afternoon.

Reid Christopher Johnson, 51, died of “multiple gunshot wounds,” according to a Hennepin County medical examiner’s report obtained by PEOPLE.

His body was discovered by the Minneapolis Police Department on Sunday in the garage of an “unoccupied home in the 700 block of 30th Ave N,” in Minneapolis, according to a Minneapolis police news release.

Upon arrival, MPD forensics “responded to process the scene and collect evidence” and “homicide detectives responded to begin the investigation.”

No arrests. The murder investigation is ongoing.

Fox 9 reports that the deceased was found by a real estate agent who was preparing the vacant home for an open house on Sunday. An agent first discovered the car unattended in a garage on Saturday and then contacted MPD.

By Sunday, the car was no longer on the property, reports KSTP-TV. The real estate agent then discovered that it had been replaced by a large garbage can in the garage.

The homeowner then asked the real estate agent to help him move the trash can.

The homeowner told KSTP-TV that “there was something sticking out for a long time, wrapped in a blue tarp, and then the agent opened the tarp, and “his face just fell off.”

“It’s just a horrible thing to happen to anybody. To die and be thrown in a dumpster,” the homeowner said, according to Fox 9. “It’s unbelievable. It’s hard to think about.”
