Miss Universe Philippines Michelle Dee News

Model, businesswoman, and actress Michelle Dee, 28, defeated 37 other hopefuls from throughout the nation to become the new Miss Universe Philippines 2023. The country’s representative for Miss Universe 2023, which will be held in El Salvador later in the year, is a 5’10” pretty girl.

Shortly after learning she had won, Dee said her mother’s presence in the audience that evening had been a “lucky charm.” The future monarch is Melanie Marquez’s daughter, a celebrated actress and former Miss International from 1979. She advocated for autism awareness during the competition because she has two half-brothers who are disabled.

Dee showcased her winning form while wearing a Mark Bumgarner-designed black gown and chignon. After winning Miss Aqua Boracay, Miss Pond’s, and Miss Zion Philippines during the preliminary rounds, she was crowned Best in Evening Gown. She was appointed the brand-new PLDT Home Ambassador as well.

Dee was named Miss Universe Philippines Tourism 2022, second only to Celeste Cortesi, when she first competed in Miss Universe Philippines 2022. She previously placed in the Top 12 semifinals of Miss World 2019, which was held in London, United Kingdom.

Cong. Sam Verzosa, the judge for MUPh 2023, questioned Dee during the first round of questions and answers for the top five candidates. He wanted to know her opinion on wealth disparity in the Philippines. “The wealth disparity between rich and poor continues. How can we narrow that gap?

“I think first we have to acknowledge what we have, such as food, education, and homes,” Dee said in response. The greatest way to deal with this, in my opinion, is through education because that holds no status quo. Every child in the Philippines has the right to a great education, not just any education. Because I think that by giving this to every Filipino child, the government can not only improve their quality of life but also give them more authority.

The final five contenders responded to a common question after the first round of questions and answers while donning noise-cancelling headphones: “Recently, the Department of Tourism implemented a new branding strategy, we provide the world our best. What would you consider to be our greatest contribution to the world? Why do you think that is?

Dee responded, “The Philippines is home to very magnificent natural resources, from the beaches to the mountains. However, I am convinced that the biggest natural resource the Philippines has is us Filipinos. With our warm smiles and welcoming nature, the globe keeps returning to the Philippines because of us. We are the country’s true heart and soul.

I will always be proud to call the Philippines home, and no matter what happens, I will always be proud to identify as a Pinoy, no matter where the universe leads me.

The pageant, which was hosted by Xian Lim and Alden Richards of Kapuso fame, also named the following winners: Fraud Zambales First runner-up was Christine Juliane Opiaza, while second runner-up was Miss Pampanga Mary Angelique Manto.

Other notable honours included Best in Swimsuit, won by Miss Baguio Krishnah Marie Gravidez, and Best in Evening Gown, won by Dee. Miss Capiz Shayne Glenmae Maquiran won Miss Congeniality, and Miss Agusan Del Norte Jannarie Zarzoso won Face of Social Media.

The event hosted at the SM MOA Arena was hampered by “technical difficulties”. The hosts summoned back the Top 18 competitors to parade in their formal attire after announcing the Top 10 finals. After that, the top five candidates were announced, including Miss Pampanga Angelique Manto, who had previously been omitted from the Top 10.

Miss Bohol Pauline Amelinckx was crowned Miss Supranational 2023 at a separate coronation ceremony in Okada Manila, and Miss Baguio Krishnah Marie Gravidez was chosen Miss Charm Philippines.
