Missing Brit Simon Robinson is FOUND safe after agonising two week 5,000 mile search from Thailand to Finland

A BRITISH man who went missing after a trip to Thailand has been found safe after a mysterious two-week, 5,000-mile search.

Simon Robinson’s sister, who launched an appeal to find him, said the 27-year-old called her last night to confirm he was OK.

Sarah Robinson Dale told The Sun today: “Simon called me and apologised. He’s fine thank God.

“He didn’t say [where he was]. I’m so happy he’s okay.

“I didn’t ask if he was coming back. I was just relieved to hear his voice.”

In a Facebook post, Sarah said Simon was “sorry to worry everyone” and added: “Thank you to everyone who shared and supported us.”

An Instagram page dedicated to the search, run by one of Simon’s school friends, celebrated the news.

The post read: “Best news ever!!! Thank you all so much for your support!!! Let’s get Simon back home where he was sorely missed.”

Simon, from Skegness, flew to Thailand on a solo trip on July 22, initially planning to stay until August 3.

He phoned his girlfriend on July 26 to let her know he was coming home early, but he did not return.

The Lincolnshire boy was first thought to have gone missing in Bangkok, where he was last heard from.

His worried family desperately tried to get the attention of British and Thai authorities to launch a search.

The family took their anger out on police in the UK and Thailand, accusing them of failing to help.

Sarah, from Barnsley, told South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner Alan Billings in a letter of complaint: “As Simon’s sister, I feel neglected and unsupported at this distressing time.”

South Yorkshire Police previously told the Sun they could not comment on Simon’s case as they had not lodged their own missing person’s appeal.

But a spokesman confirmed that officers had directed Sarah to contact the Thai authorities for a search.

In her letter of complaint, Sarah said the “lack of progress” was “intolerable”.

She said: “This situation is causing significant emotional distress to Simon’s family and friends… we are desperate for answers and action.”

The big event came when a social media user who claimed to be a Thai immigration officer informed his family that Simon had actually boarded a Finnair flight from Bangkok to Helsinki.

He was supposed to hop on a connecting flight from Helsinki to Manchester.

The breakthrough has moved the search for Simon 5,000 miles from Southeast Asia to Finland.

Friend Demi Guttesen revealed that the last time Simon was active on his phone was when his plane was about to land.

The Sun can also reveal that Simon’s family have been targeted by online ghosts who have been falsely demanding ransom.

Simon’s case comes after another Westerner, Kieran James Cramer, also mysteriously disappeared after a trip to Thailand.

The family suddenly couldn’t get in touch with the Australian student nurse so his dad flew out to pick him up.

Kieran was found after a desperate two-week search, but why and how he disappeared remains unclear.
