Missing Jay Slater spotted ‘staggering back to his feet’ by clubbers in new video at Tenerife rave – The Sun

MISSING Jay Slater appears to be staggering to his feet after falling to the ground at a club in new footage obtained by The Sun.

The partygoer, 19, was seen partying at 1am last Monday at Papagayo nightclub as part of the hard dance NRG music festival in Tenerife.

Our video shows revelers partying on a packed dance floor as the trance anthem blares through the room and strobe lights cut through the air.

As a cloud of smoke erupts from the machine, engulfing the club members, several guys turn their heads to Jay, who appears to be on the ground.

He is then seen standing with his shirt hanging around his neck, seemingly unsteady on his feet.

One partygoer, 20, said: “It was a good atmosphere, there was heavy dance music and everyone was having a good time vibing away.

“I wanted to remember the moment so I started filming, and then I saw a guy stumbling in front of me.

“You could see him get up from the ground, everyone turned to look. They looked a little worried.

“At first I had no idea it was Jay, he was a lot worse for wear. He was with several guys and a girl.

“Only after we read The Sun and saw his pictures. I watched my videos and my blood ran cold, knowing he was gone.

“All our friends saw it the next day, we were all shocked thinking it could have been me.”

Raver, who was on his first trip to the festival with seven friends, said most of the attendees at the three-day event were between the ages of 18 and 25.

He added: “Drugs were being sold but the festival was well run and security was secure. No one felt pressured to do anything.

The video captured the moment DJ BLK played to the crowd. It is not clear how long Jay stayed at the club, which closed around 4am.

The NRG festival, a series of high-beats-per-minute parties, attracts tens of thousands of punters and invites them to go wild all night long.

The search for Lancashire lad Jay continues today, with search teams fighting their way through dense foliage at a 2,000ft deep gorge in rural Masca.

Jay, from Oswaldtwistle, went missing on Monday morning after leaving two friends he met at a club at their small AirBnb cottage near the remote village of Masca.

He called his friend Lucy Law and told her he was exhausted and thirsty, with only one percent of battery on his phone.

Walking from Jay’s last known location to his accommodation would take about 11 hours of walking.

Mum Debbie Duncan revealed a witness had gone to police and claimed to have seen the teenager sitting on a bench 3.5 miles away in Santiago del Teide, about ten hours after he was last heard from.

The police have not confirmed this and are not responding to inquiries.

Meanwhile, the detective turned TV investigator who yesterday exposed the horrific crimes of Jimmy Savile and investigated the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, has offered to help Debbie find Jay.

Mark Williams-Thomas revealed he had contacted her amid mounting speculation about what happened to the tourist.

Search teams trying to find Jay on Sunday narrowed their efforts to small buildings near where his phone last pinged Monday morning.

Guardia Civil officers could be seen circling two structures at the bottom of a gorge near Masca in the Rural de Teno park – which locals call the wastelands.

Efforts appear to be focused on one area after days of searches in the rural mountain village of Masca and the surrounding countryside.

They were seen looking at the blue barrels outside one of the small buildings.

The effort comes after Debbie made a direct plea to her missing son, saying: “We just need you home.”

Debbie said she “hasn’t slept” since the 19-year-old disappeared.

She said she did not know whether the Spanish authorities rejected the offer of help from the UK because they saw it as an “insult”.

She added: “We’re not getting along. I’m not getting along very well at all.

“I haven’t slept, I’m exhausted. It’s been horrible. I can’t give him up, I just can’t.

“People say, ‘Yes, I understand’ – no, you don’t, you don’t.

“We just need you home – we just need him home.”

NRG Festival released a statement saying it was able to “provide some practical support” to Jay’s family, including hotel rooms.

A GoFundMe page for Mr Slater’s family has raised more than £30,000 and says it will go to family and friends who remain in Tenerife while the search continues.
