- American ballet dancer Misty Copeland performs with the American Ballet Theatre in New York. One of the top ballet companies in the world, A.B.T. was established in 1939. In Hollywood films including “Romeo & Juliet,” “Swan Lake,” “Giselle,” “The Nutcracker,” and “Firebird,” she has played leading roles.
- Copeland was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on September 10, 1982. She grew raised in a big family with seven siblings as a result of her mother’s numerous marriages. Sylvia, her mother, had multiple failed marriages and was granted custody of all her kids. She took care of her family on her own and helped each member succeed in their separate careers.
