Levitan told EW, “People were really worried, to tell you the truth, because we wanted them to not cry and we wanted them to be comfortable. We actually warned people, ‘Okay, in when these kids are on set, there’s no talking. I don’t want to hear a word from anyone.'”
Poppy and George age a few minutes at the end of Season 10 (“The Year of the Birthday”), and the Pomeranzes aren’t much older than their on-screen characters. In fact, they were only a few days old when they were brought to the set of “Modern Family”. As a result, Levitan’s efforts to stop them from crying were not always fruitful. But when that didn’t work, Hyland was quick to tap into her maternal instincts.
It can be stressful to have two newborns on the set of a major TV series, but “Modern Family” actress Sarah Hyland thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Although she had no children of her own while filming, her interactions with Andie Phoenix and Hunter Dutch Pomeranz allowed her to tap into her maternal instincts.
She told Us Weekly: “Our first two children, the daughter crying and everyone getting upset. But I found a way to always calm her down. I always sang ‘Baby Mine’ in ‘ Dumba’ and it will calm down in no time. . . . As long as you like, hold, bounce and sing that song, it will always stop!”
It’s not a huge surprise, because Hyland has proven to be a successful baby with babies in her private life. In an Instagram post in March 2022, she said of her newborn grandson, “I can’t wait to go home and pamper him.”
