Mohammad Abdul Samad was born on May 7, 2000 in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, India (Mohammad Abdul Samad 2018). He was affectionately known as Sam. His family was not financially well-off, which forced him to face many problems during his childhood. He knew nothing about acting before making his film debut. In an interview, he even narrated the entire process of choosing the role of Gattu in the national award-winning film Gatto. Mohamed Samad said: “I had no idea what acting was. I had just auditioned for ‘Gatu’ when the crew came to our school looking for kids to act in the film. I was one of the 20 kids chosen. Then the list got shorter. I was one of the four finalists. One day, they told me I had been selected. I was happy to get first place. I wanted to make my parents proud.”
