Moon Moon Sen is an Indian politician. Before entering politics, she was an actress. She is the daughter of famous Bengali actress Suchitra Sen. Her husband is Bharat Dev Verma, a descendant of Tripura royal family. She contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Asansol constituency.

Moon Moon Sen was born at 24 Parganas, Kolkata on Sunday, March 28, 1954 (age 69; as of 2023). Her zodiac sign is Aries. She received her primary education at Loreto Convent, Shillong and Loreto House, Kolkata. She graduated from Somerville College, Oxford, England. She holds an MA in Comparative Literature from Jadavpur University. Tsukimori wasn’t always interested in acting. She worked as a teacher at Ballygunge Girls’ School and a year later at Chitrabani School; she used to teach graphics there. She worked at All India Radio and later as a teacher at Ballygunge Government High School in Kolkata. She got married and had a daughter before entering the film industry.

She is also a businesswoman and owns an interior design store and a consulting firm. She has always said that her husband is the reason for her success and supports her in all her endeavors. She thanked her husband for encouraging her to enter politics. Sen joined TMC in 2014 after the death of his mother. She was appointed by Mamata Banerjee as the TMC candidate from Bankura Lok Sabha constituency in West Bengal.

Acting career
She started her career in Bengali films. She was very successful and got many projects. She bagged contracts in other film industries including Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam and Bhojpuri. This also introduced her to Rajinikanth.

She made her Bollywood debut in 1984 with the film Andar Bahaar, starring Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff. She immediately attracted people’s attention; because she played a very bold role. In the 1980s, actresses often avoided such daring scenes in movies.

Although she was not very successful in Bollywood, she was known for her boldness. She was one of the first actresses to pioneer the trend of being photographed in bikinis. Over the years, she has done many Bollywood films with brave stances and bold roles. She always said she was happy with her body and had no problem with being photographed in a good sport. She said that even at 70 years old, she would bare everything.

In 2004, the film “My Karma” directed by Korak Day received international acclaim. The film won several international awards. Moon Yuesen’s role as “the tough yet sweet Indian wife who stands as a rock behind her husband” in the film was particularly well-received and gained international recognition.

Political career
She joined the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) in 2014. Mamata Banerjee announced that she is the TMC candidate from Bankura Lok Sabha constituency in West Bengal. Interestingly, she had no idea that she was about to be nominated to contest the Lok Sabha elections. Her friends called to congratulate her on her nomination. That’s when she got the news. She contested the elections and won the Bankura seat and was elected to the Lok Sabha. She defeated nine-time CPI(M) MP Basudeb Acaria from Bankura. This is a huge win for Moon Moon Sen and TMC.

In the 2019 general elections, Subrata Mukherjee’s name was announced as the TMC candidate from Bankura. Sen got a ticket to contest the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Asansol constituency, contesting against Union Minister Babul Supriyo. When her name was announced as the candidate for Asansol seat, Babul Supriyo tweeted:

- In 2014, when she was campaigning in the Bankura constituency, the roads in Bankura were cleaned so that the dust blowing from the roads would not cause discomfort to Vinvin Sen, Raima Sen and Riya Sen. This move was widely criticized by the people of Bankura as well as other politicians; because Bankura was severely short of water, people did not even have water to drink.

- In 2015, she praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for improving India’s international image. Her remarks were criticized by some party workers.
- On April 29, 2019, when she was asked about the ongoing violence at the Asansol polling station, she responded that she knew nothing about the incident as she had woken up late and had her bedtime tea. She was widely attacked and criticized for the remarks.
